WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to amend previously sent messages.
Users of the instant messaging service will be allowed to modify messages up to 15 minutes after they are sent, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who announced the new feature on Monday.
“You can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp if you make a mistake or simply change your mind.”We’re thrilled that you’ll now have greater control over your conversations, such as the ability to amend misspellings or add additional context to a message.
“For this, you must tap and hold the message for a few seconds after sending it, then select the option.”
Prior to the new capability, social media users had to erase messages or give edits in a subsequent message.
According to Meta, the functionality is already being sent out to users and will be available to everyone in a few weeks.
Users of other services, such as Telegram and Signal, have been utilizing messaging editing tools before WhatsApp, and Twitter had also granted premium users access to the edit button.
