Raila odinga a day after the presidential election result held in Kenya was announced, has came out to reject the result thus, reinstated that the result is null and void
While addressing mammoth of crowd in the country, the presidential candidate, Odinga said “What we saw yesterday was a travesty and a blatant disregard for the constitution and the laws of Kenya by (Wafula) Chebukati the minority of IEBC commissioners”.
His appearance before the crowd on Tuesday was Odinga first public appearance after William Ruto has been announced by the Kenya’s electoral commission chairman as the winner of the poll for amassing 50.5 of the votes against Odinga who polled 49.5 per cent of the votes
Four of the seven commissioners in the country kicked against the result while some of odinga supporters takes on the electoral official at the declaration venue.
Odinga upon the announcement of the result pointed some of the illegal means through which the announcement was made which makes the result invalid.
He (Odinga) asserted that it’s only the electoral commission chairman can see the final result before its announced.
This assertion was in contrary to the Kenya’s electoral observers which announced that the election is in accordance with law and constitution in the best way possible thus “corroborates the official results”
Odinga further insisted that “The law does not vest in the chairperson the powers of a dictator”, warned that the decision from the electoral body should have been made on consensual concept.
The electoral body has however yet to give feedback Odinga claims thus making people to believe the presidential candidate allegations.
It was announced that at the collating center where the result are been tallied, the screen showing the scenes stopped getting updated by the electoral commission before it was abruptly shut down.
Furthermore, the official election results document which is expected to be uploaded in the electoral commission website can’t be found as well. Could odinga be right on his allegations?
Odinga and his supporters expected nothing from the election apart from Victory following the current president, Uhuru Kenyatta declared his support for the presidential candidate whom he had clashed with years back against his vice president, William Ruto.
The 77 years old political prodigy has been vying to become the president for quarter of century and still couldn’t claim the spot with the current one in jeopardy.
Raila odinga and his team have 7 days to file a petition to the Supreme Court to challenge the transparency of the result.
