Nyesom Wike, the Outgoing Rivers State governor of Nigeria, has stressed the need for the federal government to provide more funding to the Nigerian police to ensure that it can continue to perform better.
Any government that cannot protect life and property, combat violence, and help people live peacefully, according to the governor.
Governor Wike said his administration understood the importance of such operations and had unrelentingly provided the state police command with the necessary logistical support in the Rumuepirikom community, during the opening of the police tactical operations center in the Obio/akpor local government area on Friday.
According to him, such assistance had boosted police officers’ ability to do their best to keep the crime rate at its lowest level in rivers state.
“I am sure that when the tactical team, as the CP said, moves in here, the environment alone will allow them to put in their best,” he said.
