Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle has lost his position to Dauda Lawal, a candidate for governor from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
With a total of 377,726 votes, the Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed Lawal the winner.
Matawalle of the All Progressives Congress, who received 311,976 votes, was defeated by him.
Early on Tuesday morning, Lawal was proclaimed the victor in Gusau, the state capital.
“I Prof. Kassimu Shehu of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, certify that I am INEC Returning Officer for Zamfara State,” the INEC returning officer, Prof. Kassimu Shehu, declared.
