Who is Yinks?
Originally from Ghana but based in South Africa. Yinks with the real name Kofi Akwabi Yinkah is a 35 years old CEO of Boss Brain Entertainment and the co-founder of Li Music Distribution South Africa. And Among other brands, he is the brand ambassador for Sade Monee clothes from Chicago.
Yinks is an award-winning hip-hop artist, songwriter, record executive, philanthropist, and music business executive who has taken a multidimensional approach to break down walls and erasing the laws of record labels. How the hell he is doing it remains an illusion, but for the first time, I’ve met someone who truly wants something good and for the long haul, he is all in for it!
Why Independent Artist?
The demystifying truth hailed in his pursuit is to conquer not just Africa but the world. In an interview with the Forsige Yinks says, “I’m the first rapper from Africa to go global independently.” This is, without doubt, a sincere truth, considering the influential role music labels played in today’s African artists.
But, like every rising musician’s desire, Yinks has always wished to be a part of a record label, a fading dream perhaps, prompting him to take up the sword and go to fight on his own. He says, “Every upcoming rapper’s dream is to get a record deal but that could be an illusion and never happen.”
In furthering his response asked by Forsige, Yinks added, “Every day as I developed my skills and build my brand I kept knocking at a lot of labels doors, they were not even giving me feedback so that was when I decided if I don’t forget this record deal dream and boss up to grind everything will just go to waste.”
With less of an adherence to labels, Yinks is a key actor in the ‘African independent music industry,’ and this role is crucial in giving him a competitive advantage in the musical business, as far as Music in the continent and the world is concerned.

As he grew up, the 35-year-old first African independent artist was exposed to a variety of experiences that affected and shaped his perspective. “Growing up in Ghana I was influenced a lot by music in high school,” he explains.
This culminated in a multitude of variables that influenced his pattern and style of music, resulting in a genre so distinct that he could fit into any sound, including Hip-hop, Afro-pop, Club bangers, R&B, and Pop.
The majors are gaining traction. Something is approaching that will have a significant impact on the music industry. The Yinks 3000ce Album is currently underway, and he’s surely dumping bombs from places you wouldn’t expect!
“It’s my debut album, and the world should be ready for some good music, both club bangers, RnB pop, and something conscious,” Yinks said of the album.
