Former US President, Donald Trump will be allowed to return on Facebook after a two-year ban on the social media platform.
The cancelation of the suspension was disclosed by the Facebook parent, Meta on Wednesday who said the former president would be allowed access back to his personal account.
Meta vice president of global affairs, Nick Clegg said the reason for returning Trump to Facebook is solely to allow the public to have access to the saying of their politicians, which will impact their decision to make the right choices during the election.
Clegg insists that should Donald Trump violate the rules guiding Facebook with his content, the content shall be removed and will be suspended for between one month to two years depending on the severity of his violation.
Meta has assured to continue to work for the interest of humanity, by intervening in anything they perceived to bring real-world harm.
Trump’s account on Meta will be reactivated in the coming weeks, the mother platform said.
Donald Trump has blasted the decision of Meta, saying Facebook which has lost billions of dollars is now looking to reinstate his account.
He urged the platform never to suspend the account of a sitting president or anybody who is not deserving of retribution because it will only lead to deplatforming them.
