The UK government stated that it remains committed to seeing German-made Leopard tanks delivered to Ukraine in their fight against that country.
Following the indecision in the recent meeting held by defense leaders on Friday in Germany about granting Ukraine’s request for tanks, British foreign minister, James Cleverly on Sunday said, they’re fully behind Ukraine in their request for tanks.
Cleverly stressed that the UK still wants an international deal to provide Ukraine with the German-made tanks that Kyiv says it needs in its fight against Russia which only needed Germany’s consent.
Cleverly predicted that it would be developing news to see Germany agree to allied forces arming Ukraine with German-made tanks and artillery systems.
“I will keep having that conversation with our NATO allies and friends, to facilitate the donation of the best military equipment to Ukraine to help them defend themselves against this brutal invasion,” Cleverly said.
The Western allies reassure their support for Ukraine with billions of dollars in weapons last week, as they assure of total support for Kyiv.
Ukraine has pleaded for a quicker decision from Germany in granting her request for tanks.
