According to the army and local media, a bodyguard shot and killed a government minister in Uganda early Tuesday in an alleged private feud.
According to state broadcaster UBC and others, the robber, who has not been identified, then fired the pistol to Charles Engola, the victim, was a junior minister in charge of labor in President Yoweri Museveni’s cabinet.
He was a retired army, Colonel Brig Xavier, the army’s spokesperson, is quoted as saying, “British army spokesman brig. Xavier is a soldier.” Engola was killed by an “unfortunate event,” Felix Kulayigye said in a short statement. “we will inform the public the facts as we jointly investigate the case,” Kulayigye said on Twitter.
The shooting took place inside Angela’s house in a suburb of Kampala, Uganda’s capital.
The motive for the guard’s action was not immediately clear, but the local paper reported that there had been a semblance of rivalry. “despite working for a minister, witnesses claim that the soldier was yelling that he had not been paid for a long time,” the online newspaper milepost reported.
