Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed support for a resolution on a regional denuclearization conference addressing Israel’s nuclear weapons during the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit.
Erdogan highlighted the significance of the resolution condemning threats of nuclear weapon use against Gaza and stressed the importance of revealing international support for Israel. He emphasized the historical significance of the joint meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.
Erdogan underscored the need for immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza and urged the US, with influence over Israel, to acknowledge Gaza as the land of the Palestinian people. The President also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s evolving stance on Israel.
The resolution comes amid international concern sparked by a far-right Israeli minister’s mention of a “nuclear bomb” option for Gaza.
Tensions persist in the West Bank following recent conflicts, with a high toll on Palestinian lives.
