The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has warned the election petition tribunals not to compromise their independence as they examine lawsuits resulting from the recently concluded general elections in 2023.
On Sunday in Abuja, Mr. Joe Ajaero offered the council at a press conference hosted by the Labour and Civil Society Movement Front.
He warned that any judge who jeopardized the proceedings may face punishment from organized labor and civil society movements in a “Hall of Shame.”
Even though President-elect Bola Tinubu is scheduled to take office on May 29, there are several lawsuits challenging his victory currently pending before the Presidential Election Tribunal.
There are mounting concerns, according to Ajaero, that the election petition tribunals have yet to begin hearing petitions from disgruntled candidates who took part in the process.
