The manager of RB Leipzig, Marco Rose, is casting doubt on the severity of Jude Bellingham’s injury. He plans to closely monitor Bellingham’s condition before making a final decision on whether Bellingham will be available to play in Real Madrid’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig because he got injured over the weekend.
“I don’t believe he’ll be out until he’s not in the stadium tomorrow,” Rose told a press conference on Monday.
Bellingham had to come off the field in the 57th minute during Real’s 4-0 victory against Girona on Saturday. He scored two goals in that match. Afterwards, the club announced that he had a serious sprain in his left ankle.
Rose, talking before Tuesday’s first-leg match against Real, isn’t very sure that the Spanish team will be missing their top scorer from Liga in Germany.
Rose is familiar with Bellingham’s skill level, having coached him at Borussia Dortmund in the 2021-22 season. However, even he didn’t anticipate Bellingham scoring 16 goals in the league and four in the Champions League this season.
“I believe he’s in the perfect team and he made the right decision. It’s no shock to me that he’s had a significant influence,” Rose commented. “However, his goal-scoring ability did catch me off guard. I worked with him for a year; he’s a fantastic person and an excellent footballer with an incredible mindset.”
Real Madrid’s victory against the unexpected title contenders, Girona, helped them extend their lead at the top of La Liga by five points. Rose knows that his team is up against a tough opponent in Real Madrid, whether or not Bellingham plays.
