Police officers from the FCT Police Command, specifically the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, have successfully dismantled a group of five kidnappers. This gang was responsible for carrying out numerous kidnappings in the capital city as part of their criminal activities.
The Police Command reported that they were able to catch the gang thanks to reliable information. As a result, they arrested a wanted kidnapper named Buhari Muhammad (20 years old), along with Muhammad Sabiu (20 years old), Isah Abdullahi, Hamzat Musa (21 years old), Fatima Abdullahi (22 years old), and Zuliat Yusuf (23 years old). The arrest took place at a hotel located in Bassa Village, FCT.
According to a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, the well-known kidnapping group was behind the kidnapping of Joshua Eze. Joshua’s wife, Blessing Eze, was also injured by a bullet during the abduction on January 27, 2024. However, she was rescued unharmed by police officers from the command on January 28, 2024.
He added that the police recovered an AK47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, a total of 345,000 naira in cash, and some other valuable items from the suspects. The individuals have admitted to their involvement in the crime, as well as other kidnapping cases in the area.
The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, wants to let the public know that he is determined to eliminate all forms of crime in the FCT. Although the investigation is still ongoing, he assures everyone that he is dedicated to making the FCT a safer place for everyone.
