The Federal government of Nigeria with the support of other donors organization reached over 27 million children for seasonal malaria Chemoprevention Drugs in the country.
This information was disclosed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire yesterday at the national SMC stakeholders’ review meeting, and the 2022 Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNS) campaign state engagement meeting.
Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) was recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and it involves intermittent administration of full treatment courses of anti-malarial medicines to children in areas of high seasonal transmission during the malaria season.
