Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, was accused yesterday by the House of Representatives of receiving money from the sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil in a contract with China without paying it into the federation account.
The clues were given by Mark Gbillah, the chairman of the ad hoc committee looking into the alleged loss of over $2.4 billion in revenue from the unlawful sale of 48 million barrels of crude oil export in 2015, including all crude oil sales and exports by Nigeria from 2014 to the present.
Malami and other government officials who had been invited to the public hearing were not present, which Gbillah regretted. He pointed out that the whistle-information blower’s had led to the public hearing.
In order to get their answers on the sale of crude oil and the loss of approximately $2.4 billion in income, the committee issued a summons to them.
