The US-led NATO and her ally’s defense leaders failed to agree on supplying the German Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
Despite mounting pressure on Germany to release her German-made tanks to Ukraine, the allies failed to agree to a conclusion on granting Ukraine’s request.
During the meeting on Friday, European leaders yet again failed to convince Germany to accede to their request after much pressure on them by the allies.
In a statement released by the German defense minister Boris Pistorius, he denied allegations saying the country was unilaterally blocking the delivery of the Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, saying they were ready to grant the request should there be a consensus among allies.
Pistorius disclosed that there has been no resolute decision on sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but their decisions shall be disclosed soon.
“I am very sure that there will be a decision in the short term but, I don’t know how the decision will look,” Pistorius said.
Failure to conclude with NATO allies is perceived as a sign of decision among the allies.
Russia has continued to warn the West, advising them not to ignite the war into a nuclear war.
