Close to 20 people have been reported dead following a plane crash that took place on Sunday morning in Nepal.
The twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft was said to be conveying 72 passengers from the capital, Kathmandu to Pokhara in central Nepal, before getting crashed along the way.
The Nepal government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed in an emergency cabinet meeting expressed their deep condolences to the family of the victims.
“I am deeply saddened by the sad and tragic accident of Yeti Airlines ANC ATR 72 which was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara with passengers,” the PM posted on his official Twitter account.
Rescue operations have been ongoing so far at the site of the incident, but the officials have been witnessing difficulties during operation due to the presence of large numbers of people at the site.
The report indicated that the aircraft was spinning violently in the air before crashing into the gorge.
The government has set up a committee to Investigate the matter that led to the crash.
