Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has preached for a peaceful dialogue to the ongoing conflict in the South China Sea, saying aggression will escalate tensions.
The Prime Minister speaking on Thursday about the development in the South China Sea opposes external influence indicating that there should be a diplomatic discussion between China and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
PM Anwar believes the blocs comprising each country should be on a round table discussing solutions rather than exposing the region outside.
China has increased attacks on Philippines vessels on the Sea through the use of water Cannons straining relationships between Beijing and Manila.
Amid the global crisis, Anwar believes Southeast Asia can still maintain relative peace by aligning itself together as one and rejecting the definition of the region by outside powers.
Anwar appealed to Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over the South China Sea adding that, the situation regarding the stand of the Filipinos against the Chinese can be resolved amicably as the regional bloc is said to hold their ASEAN Forum.
