The Kenyan passport has fallen in its position in Wednesday’s Henley Passport Index ranking. The Kenyan passport dropped in the global ranking despite recent efforts and feats by the government to secure more friendly bilateral ties which include visa-free travel across the globe.
The index released ranks Kenya’s passport at position 73 globally, two steps drop from position 71 in the same period last year.
The ranking compares the strength of these passports based on the number of countries their holders can pass into without a prior visa, the country’s passport as of January this year gives visa-free access to 73 countries.
Kenyan’s passport holders can access about 33% of the world. Nevertheless, despite the weakening of the Kenyan passport Internationally, Kenyan’s passport remains among Africa’s top ten in giving visa-free access.
