The gubernatorial and state assembly elections scheduled for March 11 have been moved to March 18 because the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was unable to start the reconfiguration of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS, equipment on time.
The commission was given permission by the Court of Appeal yesterday to modify the BVAS used for the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections in order to prepare for the state elections.
The House of Assembly election has been formally postponed till Saturday, February 18, 2023, according to Funke Segun-Osifeso, the INEC’s Chief of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender, and Civil Society Organization in Ondo State as he announced to newsmen that, “the distribution exercise slated for tomorrow has been cancelled. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
