Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Grand Alliance announced that he would not run for governor of Delta State in the state’s 2027 election after 20 years in the race.
Since he is “optimistic that the Delta governor-elect, Sheriff Oborevwori, would perform extremely well and there will be no need to contest in 2027,” Ogboru, who turned 65 on Monday, said he will not run for governor in 2027.
Nonetheless, he emphasized that by choosing not to run again, he is not giving up on politics, adding that “there are other opportunities” and that he is open to any that God may present.
Ogboru made the claims while complaining that there were irregularities in the 2023 Delta Governorship election while speaking to journalists in his rural home in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.
