The gunmen who shot and killed a traditional leader and took his wife and one other person hostage have lowered the ransom from N100 million to N40 million for the abducted victims.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the gunmen initially contacted the king’s family on Sunday and demanded a payment of N100 million as ransom.
The Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC), Mr Kehinde Bayode, in the Ekiti Local Government Council of Kwara, spoke to reporters on Sunday and mentioned that a suspect has been arrested.
When speaking about the work being done to rescue the monarch’s kidnapped wife and the other person, Bayode said: “The people who kidnapped them contacted the family.”
The traditional leader, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, who held the title of Olukoro of Koro-Ekiti in Kwara’s Ekiti Local Government Area, was killed in his palace on Thursday night.
At the same time, the gunmen also kidnapped his wife and another person.
