The ousted Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Abdulkadir, has described his dethronement as the “will of Allah.” Abdulkadir disclosed this in an interview with BBC Hausa on Sunday.
Recall, the Kano State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Speaker RT. Hon. Jibrin Falgore on Thursday announced the dethronement of the five Emirs and the abolishment of the five Emirates during a special session.
The Assembly passed the Kano Emirates Council law (repeal bill) 2024, nullifying the previous law, and all offices established under it have been dissolved.
The law governing the Kano Emirate was amended after the deposition of the previous emir, Muhammadu Sanusi, on March 9, 2020
Governor Yusuf issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the dismissed monarchs to vacate their palaces.
Although the Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Karaye, and Gaya have adhered to the order, Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, has not complied. Bayero has urged the “authorities” to ensure justice prevails.
Reflecting on the situation, Abdulkadir expressed his belief that the unfolding events were predetermined even before his birth.
