Osita Okechukwu, the director general of Voice of Nigeria, portrayed his expulsion by the Enugu State APC as a last-ditch effort by the state chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa, to ease out founding members of the party.
Okechukwu was arrested on Thursday over suspected anti-party activities by the state chapter of the party, along with former governor Sullivan Chime, former speaker of the state House of Assembly Eugene Odo, an assistant to the minister of foreign affairs named Mr. Flavour Eze, and two other people.
Ken Nnamani, a former Senate president, and Geoffrey Onyeama, a minister of foreign affairs, were both suspended as well.
The party’s Enugu State Secretary, Robert Ngwu, made the announcement of the disciplinary measures and accused the party chieftains of supporting candidates from other political parties in the recently held general election in 2023.
