Former President Goodluck Jonathan has joined the race to fight for the Presidential slot under the ruling party APC, as some groups paid for his nomination of interest on his behalf today.
Speculations surrounding the future of the former Vice President and President have been thrown open as the purchase of form was bought for him under APC, which means a nullification of his allegiance to PDP who brought him to the limelight.
Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan served under the late Umar Musa Yar’adua as his Vice and became the President on his demise in May 2010, and later on became the President-elect in 2011 defeating the candidate of the defunct ACN, CPC, and others.
President Jonathan was defeated by President Muhammadu Buhari of the combined APC in 2015, and since then withdraw himself from any political activity including his party, The People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
With President Buhari’s tenure set to come to an end, many aspirants have been jogging up for the top position, which the former President is not left behind.
According to sources, the former President was called upon by well-meaning Nigerians to come and salvage the country from the economic jeopardy and recession under President Buhari.
Some youth who calls for the reemergence of the former president said it was a mistake voting him out in 2015, and that they’re ready to bring him back to fix the mess caused by the present government.
Recession and inflation have been on the rise, and many faults the government due to the inability to master the economy President Buhari, and Ex-president Jonathan is an elite who had mastered the concept of modern-day economy, and are still the only person to be trusted to lead the country being a former leader of the country.
Should Jonathan emerge as the party flagbearer, he would have to go head-to-toe with his former party PDP which brought him to power.
