Shehu Sanni, a former senator from Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly, has revealed new methods used by vote buyers ahead of the country’s presidential election on February 25th.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently implemented a currency policy that has resulted in a scarcity of naira notes throughout the country. The development is expected to put a stop to vote-buying activities in the upcoming general elections in 2023.
Senator Sani, on the other hand, claimed on Tuesday in a post on his verified Twitter page that vote buyers have switched from giving electorates cash to collecting their account numbers in order to transfer funds directly because they do not have access to the large sums of cash required.
