Following a routine traffic stop in Los Angeles on Tuesday, former heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder was taken into custody for gun possession.
Wilder was stopped in Hollywood at about 1:15 in the morning, said TMZ, after police saw that his Rolls-Royce had unlawfully tinted windows and a blocked license plate.
Police stopped him after smelling the stench of smoked marijuana, according to the officers, and searched his car as a result.
Police discovered drugs and a weapon during the search. After being detained, Wilder was charged with having a concealed weapon.
