The pre-election lawsuit brought before the Court of Appeal in Abuja by Chief Ikie Aghwarianovwe, seeking the disqualification of Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the incumbent governor-elect of Delta State, was dismissed on Friday.
Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP were sued by Chief Ikie sometime in October 2022 on the grounds that the former had presented forged documents to INEC to support his eligibility for the Delta State House of Assembly election in 2019.
When the case was moved from Abuja’s Federal High Court to Asaba after being initially assigned to Hon. Justice Ekwo. Chief Ikie of Delta State further asserted that Rt. Hon. Oborevwori was unable to run for governor in 2023 as a result of the allegedly fabricated documents.
