Croatian president Zoran Milanovic has called for the de-escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, saying sending more weapons to Kyiv will only prolong the war.
Milanovic on Monday denounced the resolution of western allies of sending more arms to Ukraine, saying it’s unrealistic to believe a superpower like Russia can be defeated in a conventional war.
The Croatian president said what should be on the table now is how to peacefully and diplomatically settle the conflict between the two warring countries.
He stressed that what are the goals of the western nations against Russia which made them continue sending arms and aid to Ukraine, putting into reference probably a change of government or disintegration of Russia.
“What is the goal? The disintegration of Russia, change of the government? There is also talk of tearing Russia apart. This is mad,” he said.
He urged Kyiv to forget claiming Crimea as part of their territories saying it automatically belong to the Russians.
He accused the western allies of pushing Ukraine into a war with Russia which is a nuclear power nation.
Milanovic believed that the west knew that defeating Russia in a conventional war is unachievable, saying prolonging the war could only affect Europe most, followed by America.
