The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Lagos State, Prof. Ayobami Salami, has emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is dedicated to conducting fair and credible bye-elections in compliance with regulations.
The commissioner shared this information while they were keeping an eye on specific polling stations in the Surulere federal constituency in Lagos. He mentioned that the commission’s decision to start their activities early was a highly effective move.
When asked if the results would be quickly posted on the commission’s result viewing portal, IReV, he confidently stated, “We have committed to abide by the rules and regulations outlined in the Electoral Act 2022 and our guidelines, which include the IReV. We are determined to ensure transparency and adherence to the electoral process.”
Several constituencies in Lagos, including the Surulere federal constituency, were selected for the rerun election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) played a crucial role in overseeing the electoral process and ensuring compliance with electoral laws and guidelines.
