APC Southwest leaders resolve that every aspirant has the right to run for office and to show unity among themselves.
The meetings of the All Progressive Congress (APC) of the South West leaders had come to a unanimous end between the leaders who met today in Lagos, to discuss the fate of the region in the coming election.
According to a source from an insider, he reiterated that the meeting was mainly called on the presidential ambition of the regional leaders who are eyeing the top position.
The meeting which was convened by the former chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, and a former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba had in the presence the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Former Governor of Lagos State Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker of House of Rep Femi Gbajabiamila, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Osun State Governor Oyetola, Minister for Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu were a host of others that were present at the meeting.
The meeting was resolved on the basis of unity among aspirants contesting for the presidential ticket, and that each and everyone has the right to contest for the post, as laid down by the country and party constitution.
Also what was detailed was that, the issue of betrayal was put to rest as everyone is entitled to contest, and that each and every aspirant should be able to organize a free campaign without any forms of rancor among them.
Unity was put forward as the foundation of the development of the region politically, and dirty politics should be shunned as every aspirant should imbibe the Yoruba spirit of Omoluabi (a responsible child) in their politics, and against a divisive politics.
After long deliberation on the stance of each aspirant, all resolved to work together in unity for any emerging aspirants among them, as the unity of the region remains sacrosanct to them, which can only be shown by giving total support for the party flagbearer.
The meeting ended with family pictures of the southwest leaders, with all aspirants hoping to continue their friendly relations.
