A former lawmaker and billionaire from Ukraine who is suspected of embezzling more than $100 million has testified in court in France.
Kostyantyn Zhevago, a mining tycoon, was detained last week in Courchevel, a ski resort in the French Alps, based on an international warrant filed by Ukraine.
He argued vehemently against extradition, stating that the main reason he wanted to go back to Ukraine was to fight Russia’s occupying forces, during the court proceeding in the Alpine city of Chambery.
