Ukraine’s President has started to take an advance on the Communist world by requesting China’s support against Russia’s invasion of the city of Ukraine in what President Putin called “Operation demilitarization” of Ukraine.
It’s however noteworthy that, the majority of the Communist bloc remained reticent in the wake of the call for global sanction against Russia, with China, one of the major world powers had strongly opposed the call for sanctioning, rather than opting for another alternative to deescalate the war.
With the continuing military exercise of Russia in Ukraine despite the Western sanctions against Ukraine, China continued to have good diplomatic relations with Russia both economically and politically.
With President Putin relatedly increasing bilateral relations with the Eastern countries, it became crystal clear that the Western boycott of Russia’s goods had little impact on them.
In a bid to enable more crippling and debilitating sanctions on Russia, President Zelenskyy has taken the other way round by calling on his Chinese counterpart to join hands together with other countries in sanctioning Moscow.
It’s axiomatically believed that, should China, one of the strongest allies of Russia enforce sanctions on Moscow, it would have a lasting effect on Russia both economically and politically because China had been the major consumer of Russian products followed by India and others.
Zelenskyy call for China’s support against President Putin came days after he spoke with India’s Prime Minister on the Imperative of boycotting Russian goods in the international markets, which will put Russia at a disadvantage if they have no consumers for their finished goods and will bring an end to what they tagged as a war against humanity.
Should China accede to Zelenskyy, the Russians would be dealt a major blow globally in the context of political and economical relations.
