The campaign for 30% political appointments for women has the support of Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese. He notes that competence should be the standard for such appointments.
These jobs, according to the clergyman, should not go to the spouses of politicians who already hold public office, though.
He stated this during his keynote address at the Parents Summit, which was held by the government of Edo State as part of celebrations for the state’s Education Week in 2023.
