The Ugandan soldier shot and killed three colleagues while serving in Somalia which was part of the African Union peacekeeping mission. the soldier was arrested and will be flown into Uganda’s military court martial.
Kenya, Burundi, Djibouti, and Ethiopia also have troops with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia.
The last shooting involving Uganda’s military in Somalia happened in May 2019 when a soldier shot his superior and committed suicide.
The incident happened on Monday morning at the Mogadishu airport base, which is currently under the protection of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia.
According to the military spokesman, the suspect was arrested but the reason for the shot is not yet identified.
