The Uganda Health Ministry has declared the country’s victory over the recent Ebola outbreak that was first confirmed in September 2022.
In a statement confirmed by the Uganda Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero disclosed that the country was quick to curtail the rampaging Ebola outbreak by putting every needed preventive measure in place.
The first cases in the country were confirmed in the central Mubende district on 20 September 2022, following then, the country recorded 164 cases, with 55 deaths and 87 recovered patients.
Moreover, over 4000 people health who came in contact with the virus victims was followed up for 21 days before declaring them virus free.
DG of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has applauded the Ugandan government for their quick response against the virus by putting in place an alert system to find and care for affected people and their contact.
Despite declaring the country free of the Ebola virus, health officials have appealed to the people to be health-conscious, as they continue to maintain surveillance across the country.
