Serbia’s Defense Minister Milos Vucevic has announced plans to significantly expand the country’s Special Forces, increasing the number of troops from 1,500 to 5,000.
The expanded force is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023 and will be composed of highly trained and well-equipped non-commissioned officers.
Vucevic stated that the reformed Special Forces will be ready to respond to any challenges facing Serbia and to carry out tasks in any part of the country at any time.
The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, which have drawn the European Union’s and NATO’s attention.
