According to an official report, Saudi Arabia authorities took decisive action in arresting 13,308 individuals within a week for violating residence, work, and border security regulations.
Between July 20 and 26, a significant number of arrests were made, with 7,725 people apprehended for breaching residency laws. Another 3,427 individuals were detained while attempting to illegally cross the country’s borders, and an additional 2,156 were held for work-related infractions.
The report also highlighted specific demographics among those arrested for attempting to enter the UK illegally. Of the 572 people apprehended, 62% were of Yemeni nationality, 37% were Ethiopian, and 1% hailed from other countries.
Additionally, 58 individuals were caught attempting to cross into neighboring countries, and nine were arrested for aiding and abetting criminals in their activities.
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry issued a stern warning, emphasizing that anyone found facilitating illegal entry into the Kingdom, including providing transportation and shelter, could face severe penalties. The maximum punishment includes a 15-year prison sentence, along with a fine of up to SR 1 million ($260,000) or forfeiture of their vehicle and property.
The ministry also encouraged the public to report suspected violations by calling the toll-free numbers 911 in Makkah and Riyadh areas, and 999 or 996 in other parts of the Kingdom. The nation remains committed to upholding its border security and preserving the integrity of its immigration laws.
