Russian naval ships, including “Admiral Tributs,” “Admiral Panteleev,” and the tanker “Pechenga,” have made a historic visit to the port of Chittagong in Bangladesh for the first time in nearly 50 years.
The Pacific Fleet’s naval group considered a significant event for both nations, docked at Chittagong Port, the primary sea harbour in South Asia.
The last time Russian combat ships visited Bangladesh was around 50 years ago, during a crucial, albeit lesser-known, operation to clear mines from Chittagong port after the country gained independence in 1971.
The recent visit marks a symbolic and friendly gesture between Russia and Bangladesh, contrasting with the humanitarian mission undertaken decades ago.
