France President Emmanuel Macron has suspended the electoral agitation reform in New Caledonia.
Macron announced in a briefing on Wednesday that the president continues to heal after a devastating defeat suffered by his party during the EU Election.
Political agitation has been the major bone of contention in New Caledonia, an incident that sparked violent riots on the Island in May.
Macron who’s currently facing political upheaval in France following LePen’s far-right victory, as the president ordered the suspension of the National Assembly calling for a snap election.
Macron said the suspension of the reform plan for New Caledonia is to avoid ambiguity ahead of the snap elections in France, saying he aims to prioritize dialogue and restore normalcy in the French-controlled territory.
As France prepares for the election, President Macron has called upon the centrists to join forces against the far-right surge in France ahead of the snap polls.
