Gwom Yusuf-Ali, a 29-year-old man hailing from Barkin Ladi in Jos, Plateau State, has been handed a 13-year jail term by the High Court in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Yusuf-Ali had been detained by the Nigerian Correctional Service since November 2020, following his arrest by the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, on suspicion of involvement in a robbery incident that occurred in Gunki-Marmara, along the Keffi road in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
During the trial, R.D.K. Adagba, the prosecuting counsel, presented the defendant’s confessional statement, which was obtained through the investigating police officer. According to the statement, the defendant admitted to robbing Hassan Ahmed, a motorcycle taxi rider, at gunpoint and stealing N130.00 along with the victim’s motorcycle.
