The President of the NULGE, Ambali Olatunji, called on the Federal Government at a press conference to stop the Navy from destroying illegal refineries in the Niger Delta region. The NULGE President made the call during the NULGE National Executive Council meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.
Olatunji is calling on President Tinubu to ask the Nigerian Navy to stop destroying refining sites in the Niger Delta region. According to him, this would create jobs and generate revenue for the country. He added that the sites should be licensed and regulated so they can be taxed appropriately.
Olatunji also recommended that the Federal Government license more modular refineries that can refine crude oil. It was further explained that these refineries would help to mitigate the effects of fuel subsidy removal as well as offset the negative impact of multinational companies leaving the country.
In addition to his proposals for refineries, Mr. Olatunji also urged President Tinubu and the Tripartite Committee to come up with a fair and reasonable minimum wage for workers.
