The US is set to provide additional military aid worth $2bn to Ukraine as additional support for their fight against Russia.
The new package according to US officials said the new package will include weapons to be used in covering their air defense as longer-range rockets and other ammunition will be delivered this time around.
The new package is expected to be announced this week Wednesday as disclosed by the officials.
The majority of the new wave package as reported won’t be from the US weapons stocks, as close to $1.7bn is expected to come from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) funds.
The funds will be aimed at purchasing the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) with a range of 150km (94 miles).
The weapon will be used to allow the Ukrainian forces to hit targets out of reach, and also to help in their counterattacks against Russia.
US President Joe Biden on Monday denounced the idea of sending fighter jets to Ukraine based on their request for air defense protection.
