Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting of the BRICS foreign ministers says, the blocs would provide a better alternative to the Western countries in providing solutions to global issues.
Lavrov affirmed BRICS’ readiness to embark on global confrontation with the Western allies saying, they would do a better job in enforcing international law than their counterpart.
BRICS an emerging economic bloc has served as an alternative to countries seeking to move away from the dollar and trade on mutual grounds, with countries like Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa being its progenitors.
The bloc continued to propagate for multipolar world order where countries can decide without interference from the United States and its allies.
Lavrov at the meeting said, “Emerging to the foreground right now is the task of reinforcing the international legal framework and collective principles in finding solutions to global issues.
Only then will these decisions be both efficient and legitimate, and this is the principle that underlies the UN Charter.
But regrettably, the decisions that are taken by the collective West, especially in economics, finance, trade, and beyond, are increasingly often in violation of the basic principles of the UN Charter, Lavrov said.
The total GDP of BRICS countries has surpassed that of the Western allies combined.
