In a crane collapse incident on Wednesday morning, five individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by the New York City Fire Department. The incident occurred at a vacant construction site situated on 10th Avenue and 41st Street, triggering a prompt response from firefighters who were confronted with a five-alarm fire at the scene.
The intensity of the fire was evident from afar, with billowing smoke rising from the affected area. Images shared by Mayor Eric Adams’ office revealed debris scattered in the street below, highlighting the scale of the incident.
In light of the situation, New York City officials issued advisories to the public, warning about the presence of emergency personnel, smoke, and possible traffic delays in the vicinity. The New York Police Department also used its Twitter account to disseminate an emergency notification, urging people to avoid the area between 10th and 11th Avenues, from West 41st to West 42nd streets.
