The Federal government, the united nations development program, and Japan have joined forces to combat piracy in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea, which is contributing to oil theft in the region.
During the launching of a national strategy titled: ‘enhancing national capacity for counter-violent extremism, anti-piracy, and civilians’, they stated this.
Clem Agba, the minister of state for budget and national planning, said the government’s policies and investment in the Nigeria armed forces counter-terrorism program, as well as the international community’s efforts, had made a significant contribution to combating the menace.
Agba, represented by victoria roulade, said the program was aimed at enhancing civilian capabilities to combat extreme terrorism.
Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, the commandant of the martin luther again international leadership and peacekeeping center, said the strategy would enhance the safety of civilians who are trapped in hostile environments while simultaneously reducing violence.
