Bisi Akande, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made a scathing critique yesterday, asserting that Nigeria’s failure to implement a comprehensive development strategy in key sectors of the economy has led to the country’s decline.
Akande expressed his concerns during a lecture held in honour of Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo state. As a former governor of Osun state, he took the opportunity to reassure Nigerians that the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is proposing a groundbreaking 20 to 50-year development strategy that aims to eradicate poverty in the country.
In his address, Akande highlighted the lack of planning as a major contributing factor to Nigeria’s struggles, stating, “We fail to plan, and yet, we are surprised that we encounter failures across various sectors, resulting in subsequent generations of plan-less hypocrites.”
Akande emphasized that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is known for his close association with Baba Fasoranti and his commitment to the legacy of planning and integrity established by Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is well-suited to lead the charge in transforming Nigeria.
He expressed his belief that Tinubu will present a comprehensive master plan for Nigeria spanning two to five decades, aiming to elevate the nation to greatness.
