A Russian organization affiliated with the Wagner mercenary group has shared a message that appears to be from its boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, who says the events in Niger are part of the country’s fight against “colonists”. this country.
The Union of Officers for International Security (OUIS), which Washington sees as the front company for Wagner in the Central African Republic, shared a message Thursday night purportedly from Prigozhin.
Although the voice in the audio message sounded like Prigozhin’s, AFP could not confirm its authenticity.
“What happened in Niger is nothing more than the struggle of the people of Niger against colonizers, who tried to impose their own rules of life,” the message said.
The message noted “former colonizers are trying to keep the people of African countries in check” and “fill these countries with terrorists and various gangs, creating a colossal security crisis.”
