The whereabouts of some members of the National Youth Service Corps kidnapped at Rumuji in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State, are still unknown six days after the incident. It was learned that the bus in which they were traveling was intercepted by the miscreants last Tuesday.
Five of the corps members escaped, while an unspecified number were whisked away to an unknown destination.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the search for the abducted corps members has intensified and the Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, has ordered fresh deployment to ensure the release of the youths.
Iringe-Koko, a superintendent of police, said the five corps members who escaped during the incident were safe and had since reunited with their families.
