On Sunday, a group under the umbrella of the citizens’ advocacy group voted to block the imposition of a candidate for the position of senate president for the 10th national assembly.
The All progressives congress, APC, has issued a statement claiming that the group’s convener and secretary, chris george, and Haruna Kabir, respectively, decided to select the national assembly leaders by its zoning scheme as an autocratic reversal.
The APC also wondered why senators-elect who have the experience to lead the Senate would be excluded. Senator godswill akpabio (Akwa Ibom) would be the senate president, according to a paper published after the nwc meeting in Abuja.
Other members of the senate are northwest senator Barau jubrin (kano); speaker of the House of Representatives: Northwest Abass Tajudeen (kaduna); and deputy speaker: southeast- Ben Kalu (Abia).
