Turkey’s President, Recep Teyyip Erdogan has given a green light to Finland over their application to NATO, while he remains reluctant on Sweden’s sequel to the protest that took place in Stockholm, where the holy Quran was burnt.
Speaking at Ankara since the suspension of talks with both countries over their NATO membership, President Erdogan opined that, their decision on Finland would be positive, while their decision on Sweden remains unpredictable.
President Erdogan also urged Finland to desist away from the same mistakes made by Sweden on their Islamophobic agenda.
“We may deliver Finland a different message (on their NATO application) and Sweden would be shocked when they see our message. But Finland should not make the same mistake Sweden did,” President Erdogan said on Sunday.
President Erdogan continues to demand the extradition of some 120 terrorists back to Turkey from Sweden, saying it might change their decision on their NATO bid.
“If you want to join NATO, you will return these terrorists to us. You will send these terrorists to us so that you can join NATO,” he said.
Turkey and Hungary remained the only two countries yet to ratify the accession of both Finland and Sweden into NATO.
